Volunteer Opportunities

kidsaid_0000_Vector-Smart-ObjectKids Aid is successful because of our volunteers! Volunteers are an integral part of our weekly operations and we depend on over 140 individuals to organize and distribute thousands of bags of food to all schools in the Grand Valley.

If you are interested in volunteering, there are a few ways you can help:

Warehouse*: As a warehouse volunteer, you would be working with a team of 3 or 4 and putting food together for each school. This requires some moderate to heavy lifting. You will laugh while getting your daily workout!

Distribution*: These volunteers drive to our warehouse and pick up food to be sacked and take the food to designated schools before the end of the school week. Depending on the school, you could be taking enough food for 10 or for over 200 students. You will see the happiness and gratitude of the students each week!

Summer: This fluctuates each summer and we typically serve only a few schools during the month of June and July.  We need both Warehouse and Distribution volunteers for the summer program. See flyer below for summer 2018 opportunities.

Events: Currently, Kids Aid holds one annual event and always needs help in various capacities.

*Warehouse and Distribution volunteers work once a week for an average of 3 hours a week and follow the Mesa County District #51 calendar.   At this time, we are in operation for 34 weeks of the year plus summer.  We do not distribute during breaks during the school year.

Kids Aid provides a bag of easy-to-fix food to over 1900 school kids to take home over the weekend. Most of the work we do occurs on Wednesday or Thursday. Ideally Kids Aid likes volunteers to commit to helping during the entire school year (naturally with opportunities to have others substitute if you are gone).

Please read this statement before submitting:
I understand this is an application for and not a commitment or promise of a volunteer opportunity. I also understand I will receive the wonderful satisfaction of a job well done and no monetary compensation.

It is a normal part of Kids Aid to check on the suitability of all volunteer candidates going into schools. Successful completion of a background check is required for any volunteer 18 and over.
